The incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Two men have been charged in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.

A young child was among those injured in the event. Five people required hospital care and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
