Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive statements that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser ought to have stepped in when the choice to comment on the death was made.
