The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
