The Actress Says Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Dividing the Nation Apart

The star has revealed that she no longer feels appropriate to speak out regarding the Trump government, concerned it could worsen divisive discussions and further divisions within the United States.

‘I Don’t Really Know If I Should’, Says Jennifer Lawrence

During a discussion, Lawrence reflected, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I felt like I was acting frantically without clear direction. But experience has shown, election after election, public figures do not make a difference in any way on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Lawrence has previously been open about voting for both right and leftwing candidates throughout her life. Brought up by conservative Republicans in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 then moving to the Democrats and explaining she understood during President Obama’s term that backing conservatives was undermining her personal freedoms as a female citizen.

Previous Comments

In 2015, she commented that Trump winning the presidency might signal “the end of the world” and backed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Vice President Harris, “as I think she’s a strong contender and I am confident that she will do whatever she can to defend abortion access.”

Celebrity Views

Lawrence was supported by many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to Donald Trump as a presidential contender, but the limited influence stars have over the electoral decisions was emphasized by Trump’s victory.

“This upcoming term feels different,” noted she about Trump’s presidency. “As he said what he was going to do. We understood his record for his first term. He was very clear. And that’s the option selected.”

Latest Film

The actor is highlighting the drama, the filmmaker’s drama in which she portrays a new mother who deals with her mental health in the countryside. Speaking at a media event for the film in Venice, the star commented on the situation in the Middle East: “I’m terrified. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is no less than a genocide and it’s terrible.”

Broader Concerns

She continued by saying that she was saddened by “the lack of civility in the discussions of U.S. political debates at present and how that is going to be accepted to the younger generation now. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”

The actor attempted to refocus frustration about the conflict to leaders rather than entertainers. “Stay focused on those accountable,” she said, seen by observers as a allusion to the then-recent pledge supported by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to avoid certain cultural organizations.

Individual Insights

Lawrence, who won an Oscar aged 22 for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her performance in Die, My Love. Even though Lynne Ramsay has rejected the story being seen as one of postpartum depression and mental illness, she said that she connected with aspects of her film narrative after the arrival of her youngest child, shortly after shooting ended.

“I felt anxiety regarding my baby,” she commented, “imagining every potential danger, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was receiving counseling, but I got on a drug called Zurzuvae and I took it for 14 days and it really helped.”

Professional Experiences

The actor also mentioned of the liberating necessity of completing nude scenes in the project while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“It’s refreshing,” she commented, regarding the need to cast off vanity. “Honestly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between myself and a sex worker? But it isn’t a major concern.”
