Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

Best-selling writer for children and comedian David Walliams is no longer with his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

An official for the firm stated: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was made after an review of reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The firm has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, noting: "It is not our policy to discuss confidential company decisions."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding in excess of 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books in total, including a holiday title named *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

This move occurs subsequent to the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO last fall.
