American-Palestinian Youth Freed Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Custody

An Palestinian-American youth who spent 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest in February within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

The US state department applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

In a statement, Mohammed's uncle conveyed their "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he requires after experiencing Israel's abuse and brutal treatment over several months."

The state department said it would continue to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to US authorities and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to release him.

The father, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

It is also home to adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty regarding severe security violations including killings.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, report instances of abuse and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth according to health authorities succumbed to assault by radical settlers amid clashes in July.
